Sports Director

About This Role

The Sports Director will lead the sports policy for the Vallée de Chamonix Mont Blanc, ensuring the implementation and evaluation of the Local Sports Project. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about sports management and community engagement, as it involves working closely with various stakeholders to enhance the region's sporting activities.

Responsibilities

• Implement and evaluate the Local Sports Project
• Collect, analyze, and disseminate statistical data and studies on physical practices, sporting events, facilities, employment, and the economy of sports in the valley
• Advise elected officials in preparing decisions for executive offices and community councils
• Manage and modernize sports facilities, including the sports center, ice rink, swimming pools, and climbing areas
• Ensure safety, regulatory compliance, and continuity of service across seasons
• Optimize operations, including pricing and scheduling, while adapting to climate change
• Supervise and support the development of a multidisciplinary team
• Prepare and execute the budget, and draft specifications for public contracts
• Coordinate co-financing efforts with national sports agencies and local associations
• Maintain relationships with institutional and sports partners, including municipalities and federations
• Support organizers of major events like the UTMB and the Kandahar ski competition

Requirements

• Knowledge of public sports policies and the institutional environment of local authorities and the sports movement
• Experience in managing multidisciplinary teams and leading change
• Budget management and public procurement expertise
• Familiarity with safety regulations and certifications for sports facilities
• Proficiency in public and private funding mechanisms and grant application processes
• Strong analytical, synthesis, and writing skills
• English proficiency is preferred for communication with international partners

Important Details

• Schedule: 38 hours per week with 18 additional leave days per year
• Contract: statutory recruitment or contractual (3-year renewable fixed-term)
• Work location: Chamonix and the CCVCMB territory
