Recreational Therapist

About This Role

This role involves performing structured evaluations and developing treatment plans in conjunction with primary care counselors, utilizing therapeutic, recreational, and leisure activities. It suits a Recreational Therapist dedicated to making communities healthier.

Responsibilities

• Conduct assessments and establish recreational therapy treatment goals and objectives to meet the individual needs of patients
• Pre-certify patient care
• Conduct ongoing reviews to authorize continued care
• Evaluate each patient's progress and the effectiveness of recreational therapy interventions
• Formulate a goal-directed plan of care in conjunction with the multi-disciplinary treatment team utilizing assessment data from the Interdisciplinary Assessments
• Update Treatment Plan weekly or more often as needed
• Coordinate therapeutic recreation activities for both large and small groups to observe patient response and encourage socialization
• Assist with development of discharge plan in timely and documented standards
• Provide patient and patient's family with information regarding leisure lifestyles and create an awareness of recreational resources in their community

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Recreational Therapy or related field required
• Master's Degree preferred
• Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision
• Ability to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action
• Therapeutic Recreation Specialist BLS required
• Handle with Care (within 3 months of hire)
• Current Recreational Therapist license
