About the role
Role Overview: This position involves safely operating commercial trucks within a transportation yard to load/unload trailers and delivering products to local customers. Responsibilities include determining trailer requirements, maintaining a tidy yard, conducting trailer checks, securing loads, verifying deliveries, and completing necessary paperwork. The role also requires performing pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections, routine vehicle maintenance, and reporting damages or safety concerns.
Key Duties
- Drive trucks safely within yard and for local deliveries, communicating with team members.
- Maintain yard organization and trailer inventory control.
- Secure loads and verify delivery accuracy, obtaining customer signatures.
- Perform vehicle inspections, routine maintenance, and report issues.
- Ensure adherence to safety and DOT regulations at all times.
- Complete all delivery and vehicle documentation accurately.
- Assist with unloading and handling damaged or returned products.
Qualifications & Skills
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) required.
- Minimum of one year CDL A driving experience.
- Ability to pass DOT physical and drug tests.
- Strong communication, organization, and customer service skills.
- Ability to read maps, operate in various weather conditions, and follow regulations.
- Flexibility to work shifts including nights and weekends.
Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift/move up to 100 pounds frequently, push/pull heavy loads, sit for extended periods, and climb in/out of vehicles. Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions is essential.
