WWTP & Waste Management Officer

About This Role

This full-time position is critical for ensuring the company's wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) operates efficiently and in compliance with all environmental regulations. The Waste Management Officer will manage and monitor waste management systems, maintain environmental standards, and support the company's commitment to sustainable operations. This role is essential for production planning and scheduling, ensuring environmental compliance does not disrupt manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

• Monitor daily operation of the Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP)
• Conduct routine inspections of treatment equipment, pumps, blowers, tanks and pipelines
• Record and monitor WWTP operating parameters
• Perform water quality sampling and testing according to monitoring schedules
• Monitor wastewater discharge quality to ensure compliance with DOE requirements
• Assist in troubleshooting operational issues related to WWTP processes
• Coordinate maintenance activities for WWTP equipment
• Ensure WWTP operation complies with the Environmental Quality Act and relevant regulations
• Assist during DOE inspections and environmental audits
• Maintain records of wastewater monitoring results and environmental reports
• Prepare monthly environmental performance reports
• Manage scheduled waste storage areas and inventory
• Ensure scheduled waste is properly labeled, stored and handled according to regulations
• Maintain Scheduled Waste Inventory records
• Coordinate waste disposal activities with licensed contractors

Requirements

• Preferably a competent person with CePIETSO-PCP / CePIETSO-BP certification, particularly in Environmental Management Systems (EMS)
• A relevant qualification in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or Water/Wastewater Management (diploma or degree level)
• 1 - 3 years of proven experience operating and maintaining wastewater treatment plants or similar environmental management systems
• Strong knowledge of DOE requirements, environmental regulations and compliance requirements in Malaysia
• Competency in water quality testing and laboratory analysis techniques
• Focus on Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) best practices or holding other relevant and recognised HSE qualifications
