Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Workplace Safety & Health Officer (WSHO) to support an established engineering contractor on a major infrastructure/M&E project.
The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing workplace safety and health matters on site, ensuring compliance with regulatory and project requirements while working closely with project teams, subcontractors and relevant stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and maintain Workplace Safety & Health policies, procedures and safe work practices on site.
- Ensure compliance with the Workplace Safety and Health Act, MOM requirements and applicable regulations.
- Conduct regular site inspections, safety audits and risk assessments.
- Identify workplace hazards and recommend appropriate preventive and corrective measures.
- Review and support the implementation of Risk Assessments, Safe Work Procedures and Method Statements.
- Conduct safety briefings, toolbox meetings and WSH-related training/awareness activities.
- Monitor contractors and subcontractors to ensure compliance with project safety requirements.
- Investigate incidents, accidents and near misses, including preparation of reports and follow-up corrective actions.
- Maintain WSH documentation, records, reports and statutory requirements.
- Participate in project/site meetings and provide advice on WSH matters.
- Liaise with project management, clients, consultants, subcontractors and relevant authorities on safety matters.
- Promote a proactive safety culture across the project site.
- Carry out other WSH-related duties as required by the project.
Requirements
- Must be a registered Workplace Safety & Health Officer (WSHO) with MOM.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant WSHO experience after WSHO registration.
- Relevant WSH qualifications/certifications recognised in Singapore.
- Good knowledge of Singapore WSH legislation, regulations and industry practices.
- Experience in construction, civil infrastructure and/or M&E projects is preferred.
- Candidates with LTA, major infrastructure, tunnelling, rail, road or similar project experience will have an advantage.
- Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills.
- Able to work independently and effectively with project teams and subcontractors.
- Possession of own transport will be advantageous.
