This position suits a professional with strong technical skills in WordPress, PHP, and front-end technologies, who can deliver responsive and user-friendly websites.
Responsibilities
- Meet with clients and internal teams to understand website design and functional requirements
- Design and build responsive and user-friendly website front ends
- Plan and create scalable website architecture
- Develop and manage the website back end, including database and server integrations
- Create, customise, and maintain WordPress themes and plugins
- Integrate third-party plugins, APIs, payment gateways, and business tools
- Develop and customise WooCommerce websites and online stores
- Conduct website functionality, compatibility, security, and performance tests
- Troubleshoot website, plugin, theme, database, and content-related issues
- Optimise websites for speed, responsiveness, accessibility, and search performance
- Provide WordPress training and technical guidance to clients
- Monitor live website performance and resolve technical issues
- Maintain technical documentation and version-controlled code
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- 3-6 years of proven professional experience in WordPress development
- Strong knowledge of PHP and MVC architecture
- Proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and jQuery
- Experience in WordPress theme and plugin development
- Knowledge of WooCommerce and payment gateway integration
- Familiarity with Git, SVN, Mercurial, or similar version-control tools
- Experience using browser debugging tools such as Chrome DevTools
- Good understanding of databases, server integration, website architecture, and aesthetics
- Ability to manage projects, priorities, deadlines, and client requirements
- Strong troubleshooting, communication, and collaboration skills
