Wind Turbine Technician

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum one (1) year technical wind industry experience, OR six (6) months technical wind industry experience and a certificate of completion from a Wind Technician program, OR in absence of technical wind industry experience, minimum three (3) years' experience working with hydraulic, electrical, mechanical skills and/or composite skills
• Demonstrated use and understanding of intermediate level power tools such as hydraulic, power torque and diagnostic tools (e.g. fluke meter functions and hydraulic pressure gauge)
• Ability to demonstrate intermediate working knowledge of industrial safety practices / protocols (e.g. Confined Space, energy isolation)
• Valid Driver's License and acceptable driving record; no record of DUI, DWI, or refusal to test within previous 2 years
• Strong attention to detail and execution excellence
• Strong communication skills
• Good interpersonal and customer relation skills
• Able to effectively collaborate with employees at all professional levels and ability to respectfully follow supervision and support initiatives
• Basic computer operation skills, familiarity with internet-based program navigation, and ability to generate and interpret computer data
• Ability to read, interpret and understand drawings and schematics to validate work activity and ensure that risks are identified and mitigated
• Ability and willingness to travel for extended periods of time working weekends, holidays, and overtime
• Ability and willingness to be available for adhoc or rotation shift schedule 24 hours, 7 days a week, at times with short notice
• Ability to read, comprehend and write in English
• Ability and willingness to read, interpret technical manuals, procedures, and regulations
• Ability to climb stairs and ladders 100-400ft in height
• Ability to lift, push, pull, carry items up to 50 lbs in weight
• Ability to meet specific OSHA weight limits of 250-300lbs maximum when wearing all equipment
• Ability to stand, stoop, kneel, and bend for prolonged periods of time
• Ability to grip and manually manipulate, often with repetitive motion, items such as, but not limited to, hand tools, power tools, turbine parts
• Comfort working in confined spaces and at heights over 300 feet
• Ability to successfully participate in all training courses, including high-angle rescue and training
• Periodic walking
• Ability to hear and use close range radios
• Strong field of vision including visual depth perception and ability to distinguish colors
• Able to work in demanding physical and inclement weather conditions
• Comfort working remotely with limited supervisory interaction
• Candidates applying for U.S. based positions must have the legal right to work in the U.S. without sponsorship

Nice to have:

• Experience with GE, Siemens, or Vestas turbines
• LOTO experience
• GE, Siemens, or Vestas Certification
• Working knowledge of crane and rigging requirements
• OSHA-10, NFPA 70E, First Aid/CPR, Climbing and Tower Rescue certificates
• Confined Space Entry and Rescue certificates
