Job Overview
Our client is seeking a detail-oriented, highly accurate Residential Estimator with mandatory experience using Wunderbuild to support Australian residential renovation and extension projects. You will prepare accurate cost estimates, handle quantity take-offs, coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors, and manage estimating workflows.
Schedule
- Monday to Friday, 8:00AM – 12:00PM, 20 hours per week (Sydney Time)
Responsibilities
- Estimating & Quantity Take-Offs: Prepare accurate cost estimates, bills of quantities, and detailed pricing schedules; review architectural drawings, plans, and specs; conduct quantity take-offs for materials, labor, and trades; identify missing info/cost risks; maintain cost databases; price project variations.
- Tender & Pricing Support: Assist with tender submissions; send RFQs, track pending quotes, and compare supplier/subcontractor pricing; assist with value engineering and prepare pricing summaries for owner review.
- Supplier & Subcontractor Coordination: Prepare/send RFQs, communicate requirements, follow up on pricing, organize quote records, and escalate pricing gaps or discrepancies.
- Project & Estimating Administration: Maintain project details, drawings, and specs within Wunderbuild; track estimating deadlines; support project transition into construction; collaborate with Tradie VA administrative support to keep data complete.
- Systems & Process Improvement: Manage workflows in Wunderbuild, follow and refine estimating SOPs, maintain templates, and utilize AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude) to boost productivity and workflow efficiency.
Requirements
- Experience: 2–3 years of construction estimating experience, including quantity take-offs, cost calculations, pricing schedules, and tender submissions (Australian residential renovation/extension experience highly preferred).
- Software (Mandatory): Hands-on proficiency with Wunderbuild (required; other platforms will not substitute) and strong Microsoft Excel skills.
- Preferred Software: Xero, MS Office Suite, AI productivity tools (ChatGPT, Claude), and other construction management platforms.

- Proactive Communicator: Confident following up with suppliers/subcontractors and collaborating with Australian owners, construction crews, and Tradie VA support.
- Independent & Organized: Capable of managing multiple estimates simultaneously without constant supervision, taking full ownership of assigned work, and interested in a long-term role.
