Waste Management & End of Waste Specialist

About This Role

This specialist role focuses on ensuring regulatory compliance and efficient material flows related to metallic waste management, End of Waste processes, and cross-border shipments within a structured industrial company in the metallurgical sector. The position is for a professional with solid experience in managing metallic waste and End of Waste procedures.

Responsibilities

• Manage End of Waste procedures for metallic scrap, with particular reference to EU Regulations 333/2011 and 715/2013, overseeing quality management systems and declarations of conformity
• Oversee practices related to cross-border shipments of waste and metallic materials, interfacing with competent authorities, suppliers, clients, and international stakeholders
• Verify correct waste classification and management of environmental documentation, including EER codes, forms, registers, and MUD declarations
• Collaborate in managing checks by control bodies and audits at transporters and destination facilities
• Provide technical-regulatory support to the Commercial and Logistics functions, contributing to the optimization of material purchasing, sales, and handling flows

Requirements

• Degree in a technical-scientific field, preferably Environmental Engineering, Chemistry, Environmental Law, or similar disciplines
• Consolidated experience, approximately at least 7 years, in similar roles at metal recovery and recycling companies or structured environmental consulting firms
• Excellent knowledge of Legislative Decree 152/2006 and European legislation on End of Waste for metallic scrap
• Knowledge of the regulations for cross-border waste shipments, with reference to EU Regulation 2024/115
• Proficiency in IT tools, the Office suite, and corporate management systems
• Intermediate English language skills

Nice to have:

• Experience in the metal recovery and refining sector
• Qualification or experience as Technical Manager of the National Environmental Managers Register
• Knowledge of the RENTRI system and customs procedures related to international flows of waste and metallic scrap
• Analytical precision, results orientation, teamwork skills, and good communication and interpersonal skills
