Warehouse Manager

About This Role

Managing the general storage and material handling duties related to the warehouse is the primary responsibility of the Warehouse Manager, who also supervises the warehouse and delivery staff. This includes loading and unloading vehicles, handling materials, verifying shipments, and maintaining warehouse cleanliness and supply levels. The role suits a candidate with strong organizational and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Meet drivers at the loading dock and assure that they log in their deliveries
• Check deliveries to make sure they are in good shape and as noted on the shipping manifest, and compare them to the purchase orders
• Record merchandise delivered into the warehouse on a computer system
• Store merchandise in the warehouse and record the location of storage
• Pull merchandise from the warehouse or showroom floor
• Recognize differences in product vendor names, material identifications, and styles
• Wrap and label merchandise for shipping
• Load merchandise on trucks
• Update inventory records
• Determine appropriate means of packaging materials
• Determine correct freight charges relative to weights
• Operate forklift to move merchandise to be picked up to convenient staging location
• Operate forklift to place or remove merchandise from storage racks
• Maintain inventory in the racking system
• Maintain warehouse and showroom order and cleanliness
• Insure samples are labeled and displayed properly on the showroom floor immediately upon arrival
• Review warehouse and inventory management policies with the Showroom Manager
• Enter and update warehouse and inventory records
• Observe safety and security procedures
• Report potentially unsafe conditions
• Use equipment and materials properly and educate others to do the same
• Conserve organizational resources
• Look for ways to improve and promote quality
• Meet productivity standards
• Complete work in a timely manner
• Work quickly and safely
