Warehouse Manager

About This Role

The Warehouse Manager leads the Inventory Group, overseeing materials management, warehousing, shipping, receiving, and team leadership. This position ensures adherence to processes and requires effective multitasking in a fast-paced environment to maximize results. The ideal candidate will have strong record-keeping, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail and proven leadership abilities.

Responsibilities

• Develop project-specific material management strategies, including warehousing and inventory storage and control
• Ensure full traceability for client-issued and Westerman-procured material, as well as proper inventory storage and control according to client and supplier specifications and established processes
• Ensure the team maximizes utilization of the materials management system
• Research ways of utilizing overstock materials
• Identify opportunities for cost reduction and/or process and procedure improvement and engage appropriate personnel
• Offer recommendations and direction in the absence of clearly defined processes and procedures
• Monitor and report Key Performance Indicators of the team and develop solutions to mitigate or eliminate barriers to ensure effective performance
• Coach and mentor direct reports to provide materials management support to all people, including warehousing, inventory management, shipping and receiving, and systems development
• Ensure continuous training for all staff and ensure the transfer of knowledge is passed on to each member of the team
• Forecast and manage staffing plans to meet shop workload
• Conduct annual performance management for direct reports, including training and career planning
• Actively support and participate in the Westerman safety program
• Lead team meetings to provide assistance in resolving issues, review progress reports, and ensure assignment of new tasks
• Maintain open and continuous lines of communication and collaboration with clients, project management, and the supply chain management team
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's Degree preferred
• 5+ years of work experience in Material Management or Supply Chain Management required
• 2+ years of supervisory experience required
• Proven analytical skills and ability to organize material
• Demonstrated proficiency in oral and written communication, with the ability to prepare and deliver concise, understandable reports
• Strong personal computer skills, including Microsoft Office, and able to learn company software
• Planning and inventory management experience is required
