About This Role
This volunteer position offers an opportunity to contribute to the community by supporting various city programs within the Parks & Recreation division. It is ideal for individuals passionate about working with children and promoting active lifestyles, particularly through sports and mentorship.
Responsibilities
- Coach assigned youth team(s), emphasizing good sportsmanship and fundamentals development
- Attend and lead all practices, games, and events for assigned team(s) as directed by the department
- Perform all other assigned duties as requested by the lead staff and/or supervisor
Requirements
- Working knowledge of recreational sports, either leading/coaching a team or playing on a team
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Access to dependable means of transportation to and from assigned location or the ability to arrange necessary and timely transportation
Nice to have:
- Previous experience working with youth in recreation programs, sports, and/or other related areas
- Ability and willingness to adapt to a changing environment

- Undergo a background screening process, including a Live Scan fingerprint check through the California Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)
- Some volunteer positions may require a TB test clearance
- Start date will be contingent upon successfully clearing the background check
