Duties
MAJOR DUTIES: As a Visual Information Specialist NH-1084-II, with the 412 Test WG organization, you will prepare comprehensive illustrative support requiring advance skills. Other duties include:

  • Study and analyze diverse subject matter material to ensure visual interpretation.
  • Develop numerous and diverse projects involving a wide range of graphic activities.
  • Program and manage computer graphic files.

Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: You must have one (1) year of specialized experience (52 weeks of full-time experience) at a level close to the work of this position that has given you the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities required to successfully perform. Typically, we would find this experience in work within this field that is closely related. To be creditable, the specialized experience must have been equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-04), pay band or equivalent. Specialized experience is described as experience that demonstrated the skills and creativity needed to use the tools or equipment associated with the work. Because talent and creative ability are vital to successful work performance, samples of work or other suitable evidence of technical competence may be required. Unpaid experience that is pertinent should be credited based upon its relevance to the work of the particular position to be filled. To be qualifying, the work must have involved visual communication of information or the application of the principles of artistic design.

OR EDUCATIONAL SUBSTITUTION: Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study -- commercial art, fine arts, art history, industrial design, architecture, drafting, interior design, photography, visual communication, or other fields related to the position.
Advanced training in a vocational school, technical institute, or art institute above the high school level in one of the fields listed above is creditable as general experience on a month-for-month basis.
OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: An equivalent combination of successfully completed, qualifying education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:

  1. Skills of personal computer files management and manipulation.
  2. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing while gathering facts, making conclusions, and devising viable solutions to communications computer system problems.
  3. Ability to gather and interpret data.
  4. Ability to research, interpret and apply policies, rules, regulations, and procedures.
  5. Ability to meet and deal with customers using a high degree of tact and diplomacy.

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid work on the same basis as for paid experience. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. To receive credit for such experience you must indicate clearly the nature of the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the number of hours per week spent in such employment.

VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Only experience obtained by the closing date of this announcement will be considered.
