About This Role
This full-time role involves shooting and editing engaging YouTube videos that capture viewers' attention from start to finish. The Video Producer will be responsible for both filming and post-production, contributing to the visual style and pacing of an established YouTube channel.
Responsibilities
- Shoot everything that doesn't originate in the fixed studio sets: in the office, during outdoor shoots, at trade fairs and events
- Set up and operate camera, lighting, and sound equipment safely
- Choose framing, perspective, and lighting to ensure the material works well in the edit
- Envision the final edited video during shooting, knowing which shots, transitions, and B-roll will be needed later
- Shoot B-roll and detailed product shots
- Recognize unique moments (e.g., unboxing, installation) and be ready with camera and sound
- Edit the filmed material into entertaining YouTube videos with clear dramaturgy, good pacing, and the channel's humor
- Find the story in the raw footage and decide what to cut
- Handle sound mixing, music, sound design, and color grading
- Implement overlays and simple motion graphics independently and suggest more complex animations
- Incorporate feedback quickly and deliver on time for the publication date
- Prepare for upload (chapter markers, end cards, thumbnail contributions)
- Suggest how content can be repurposed for other formats and platforms
- Secure material after each shoot and maintain media archive and folder structure for easy retrieval of footage
- Coordinate shoot dates and deadlines with Andreas and the team, keeping tasks updated in the project management tool
- Keep equipment ready for use
- Ensure videos are completed
Requirements
- Understand YouTube long-form: how a video story is structured and what it needs in terms of dramaturgy, content, and humor to keep people engaged
- Edit confidently and quickly, ideally in DaVinci Resolve, or be able to switch quickly
- Have fundamental camera skills (exposure, focus, sound) and an eye for the right framing
- Have a feel for short videos and know what needs to happen in the first few seconds
- Consider it important to understand and match the channel's working style and tone in the edit
- Work independently, meet deadlines, and maintain an overview even with multiple parallel videos
- Have experience in video editing and shooting and can provide work samples
- Ideally have an affinity for tech and smart home topics
- Live in Bremen or the surrounding area and work predominantly in the office, with remote components for editing days
- Enjoy traveling with the team for multi-day shoots, trade fairs, or events approximately once per quarter
- Have a driver's license to drive to shoots or pick up products
Benefits
- What you shoot and edit will be seen by millions of people every month. You will shape the look and pace of an established channel and help it reach the next level
- Work with top equipment: DaVinci Resolve Studio on current Macs at modern standing desks, mainly Sony cameras and Blackmagic studio equipment. Special requests can be negotiated
- Regularly work with smart products that others can only buy months later
- Make important contacts at events like guest appearances, trade fairs like IFA, and meetings with other creators
- Flexible working hours and remote components for everything that is not done together on-site
- Access to a lot of technology
Important Details
- Schedule: flexible working hours
- Travel: approximately once per quarter for multi-day shoots, trade fairs, or events
