Duties

Major Duties: Serves with the JFHQ Sexual Assault Response Coordinator (SARC) as the designated specialist of victim support services who coordinate and oversees local implementation and execution of Sexual Assault Prevention and Response (SAPR) and Sexual Harassment Assault Response & Prevention (SHARP) Programs. Works with the JFHQ SARC to support state National Guard (NG) units in the completion of required training and may conduct training as needed. Ensures victims of sexual assault receive all needed guidance and emotional support during administrative, medical, investigative, and legal procedures, and that victims understand the processes involved and that Personal Identifying Information (PII) data will be collected, reported and maintained only for unrestricted report cases. Serves on the Sexual Assault Review Board (SARB) or Case Management Board. Serves as the point of contact in coordinating victim care from initial report to resolution of victim's health and well-being, providing comprehensive assistance and liaison to and for victims of sexual assault and referrals to civilian agencies for those victims of spouse abuse; serves to educate personnel within the state's ARNG and ANG units regarding the most effective responses to sexual assault on behalf of victims and at-risk individuals.

Note: APPLICANT MUST COMPLETE THE DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE SEXUAL ASSAULT ADVOCATE COORDINATOR PROGRAM (D-SAACP) WITHIN ONE YEAR OF HIRE.
General Experience: To qualify an applicant for any SARC or SAPR VA position evaluate and apply the applicant's competencies to include his or her military and civilian experiences, completed education, learned skills, obtained knowledge, endorsed abilities, and other training program accomplishments.

Specialized Experience: Must have at least 6 months military or civilian experience at a novice competency level in one of the personnel programs, family programs, or community service programs:
Must 24 Months Experience In The Following:
Knowledge of military and DOD SAPR or Army SHARP program.
Ability to identify potential problems.
Ability to present formal and informal program briefings to senior leaders.
Ability to facilitate the training of Sexual Assault Prevention and Response (SAPR) programs.
Knowledge of sexual assault and domestic abuse prevention policies, regulations, and statutory requirements in the military or civilian sectors.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and processing restricted and unrestricted sexual assault medical Line of Duty (LOD) documentation.
Ability to develop and facilitate effective prevention and education trainings that are interactive in nature and scenario based.
Ability to interact with diverse individuals during crisis situations, including persons in the medical, legal and social communities.
Ability to express oneself orally and in writing in a professional manner.

Education
Substitution For Specialized Experience: Equivalent combinations of education and experience are qualifying substitutions. In general, qualified applicants must have specific course work that meets the requirements for a major in a particular field; for example, psychology, social sciences, human resources, or education and, have at least 24 semester hours of college course work in the social sciences. Coursework or pertinent volunteer experience, in fields associated with those specified in the position description, are acceptable only where it clearly provides applicants with the background education and competency necessary for successful job performance such as, studies in the Social Sciences, Psychology, Education, Social Warfare, or Human Resources.
