About This Role
This senior financial executive role leads the company's financial strategy, accounting operations, and financial planning. The Vice President of Finance provides strategic financial guidance, oversees financial performance, and ensures effective financial management and compliance within a federal government contracting environment. The ideal candidate will have extensive GovCon experience and a strong understanding of government contract accounting and compliance requirements.
Responsibilities
- Lead financial strategy, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and long-term financial planning
- Oversee accounting operations, financial reporting, month-end closing, billing, accounts payable and receivable, and internal controls
- Manage government contract financial performance, including contract profitability, cost allocation, indirect rates, labor costs, and financial forecasting
- Ensure compliance with applicable FAR requirements, DCAA expectations, CAS requirements where applicable, and other relevant government contract financial regulations
- Oversee Unanet and related financial systems to support accurate accounting, contract reporting, billing, and financial analysis
- Partner with executive leadership, Contracts, and Operations on proposal pricing, contract performance, business growth, resource planning, and financial risk management
- Support audits, incurred cost submissions, indirect rate reviews, and other government contract financial reviews, as applicable
- Provide executive leadership with financial reporting, performance analysis, and recommendations to improve profitability and operational efficiency
- Lead finance personnel and external financial resources, as applicable, while establishing scalable financial processes and controls
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field
- Significant progressive experience in finance or accounting, including senior-level financial leadership
- Direct experience in federal government contracting finance
- Working knowledge of government contract accounting, indirect rates, cost allocation, and applicable FAR and DCAA requirements
- Experience with Unanet or a comparable government contracting financial management system
- Strong financial analysis, strategic planning, communication, and decision-making skills
Nice to have:
- 10+ years of progressive finance or accounting experience, including senior leadership responsibility
- Direct experience with Unanet GovCon
- Experience supporting a small or mid-size government contractor
- Experience with DCAA audits, incurred cost submissions, indirect rate development, and government contract pricing
