Vice President of Asset Allocation
Core Responsibilities:
- Develop and oversee strategic and tactical asset-allocation strategies across portfolios and client mandates
- Translate investment objectives, liabilities, risk tolerance, liquidity needs, and return targets into portfolio allocations
- Lead portfolio construction, rebalancing, implementation planning, and investment-program execution
- Analyze macroeconomic conditions, market trends, asset-class valuations, correlations, liquidity, and risk premiums
- Recommend allocations across equities, fixed income, cash, real assets, private markets, and alternative investments
- Conduct scenario analysis, stress testing, sensitivity analysis, and portfolio risk assessments
- Monitor portfolio exposures, concentration, tracking error, volatility, drawdowns, and compliance with investment guidelines
- Develop asset-allocation models, capital-market assumptions, optimization tools, and investment research
- Partner with Portfolio Management, Research, Risk, Trading, Investment Operations, Product, and Client teams
- Provide asset-allocation recommendations for institutional, wealth management, family office, insurance, and other client portfolios
- Oversee model portfolios, target allocations, manager selection, and portfolio transition activities
- Communicate market views, portfolio positioning, allocation decisions, and performance drivers to investment committees, clients, and senior leadership
- Lead asset allocation research on private markets integration, whole-portfolio context, and risk/return expectations
- Represent firm at industry events, client roadshows, and media engagements
Typical Profile:
- 18+ years in asset allocation, portfolio management, investment strategy, multi-asset investing, risk management, or investment research
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, or related discipline; MBA, CFA, or advanced quantitative degree preferred
- Proven experience developing multi-asset allocation frameworks and managing institutional or wealth portfolios
- Strong knowledge of capital-market assumptions, portfolio construction, optimization, risk modeling, manager selection, and performance attribution
- Deep understanding of macroeconomics, market cycles, liquidity, correlations, valuation, and investment risk
- Expertise in derivatives, hedging strategies, and risk-adjusted return optimization
- Experience with private markets, alternatives, real assets, and multi-asset class portfolios
- Proficiency in quantitative tools, portfolio analytics platforms, and risk management systems
- Excellent analytical, communication, presentation, and stakeholder-management skills
- Executive presence with strategic thinking, sound judgment, and client-focused mindset
