Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures by preparing equipment and monitoring anesthesia
- Perform animal restraint and handling with confidence, ensuring safety for both animals and team members
- Conduct laboratory work including blood draws, sample processing, and diagnostic testing to support accurate diagnoses
- Operate medical equipment such as X-ray machines, radiology diagnostics tools, and anesthesia monitoring devices with precision
- Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments according to veterinary instructions while maintaining aseptic technique
- Support emergency medicine efforts by providing critical care, monitoring vital signs, and assisting in intensive care procedures
- Maintain detailed records using veterinary software, documenting patient histories, treatments, and laboratory results accurately
Requirements
- Proven kennel experience and animal husbandry skills with a strong understanding of general animal care practices
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, physiology, and veterinary procedures
- Hands-on veterinary technician experience including IV insertion, vascular access, anesthesia monitoring (including general anesthesia), and animal catheterization
- Familiarity with laboratory techniques such as phlebotomy and diagnostic radiology including X-ray imaging
- Ability to handle dogs confidently and perform animal restraint effectively across various species including equine experience is a plus
- Strong communication skills for client interaction and team collaboration in high-pressure situations like emergency medicine or critical care
- Proficiency in veterinary software systems for record keeping and appointment management
