About the role

18.00 - 21.00 per hour | 40 hours per week | Monday to Friday East Kilbride | Permanent | Immediate Start Available Are you an experienced Vehicle Technician, Mechanic, HGV Technician or Plant Mechanic looking for something different from a traditional workshop role?

We are recruiting for a growing engineering and manufacturing business in East Kilbride that is looking to add experienced Vehicle Technicians to its team.

This is a varied position that will initially see you working within production, assembling and testing complete vehicles . As the role develops, you will also become involved in aftersales servicing and support , including occasional travel to customer sites to diagnose faults, carry out repairs and attend vehicle breakdowns.

What you'll be doing

  • Building and assembling complete vehicles within the production facility
  • Fitting, torquing and testing mechanical and electrical components
  • Working from engineering drawings, schematics and build documentation
  • Carrying out mechanical and electrical fault finding and diagnostics
  • Completing inspections and quality checks throughout the build
  • Servicing, maintaining and repairing vehicles as part of the aftersales function
  • Diagnosing and rectifying faults on vehicles in service
  • Occasionally travelling to customer sites to provide breakdown and technical support
  • Working alongside engineering and production teams to resolve technical issues
  • Completing relevant build, service and quality documentation

What we're looking for

We're interested in people with hands-on mechanical experience from backgrounds such as:

  • Automotive
  • HGV
  • Plant and construction equipment
  • Heavy vehicles
  • Manufacturing
  • Motorsport
  • Defence or similar mechanical environments

You'll need strong mechanical ability and confidence using workshop hand tools, power tools and torque tools.

Experience with vehicle diagnostics, electrical systems, driveline or powertrain components would be beneficial, but you don't need to be an EV specialist.

You should also be comfortable dealing with customers professionally and willing to travel occasionally when aftersales support is required.

A full UK driving licence is required due to the future customer-site element of the position.

The Opportunity

This isn't a role where you'll spend every day carrying out routine servicing.

You'll initially get involved in building the vehicles, giving you an understanding of the product from the ground up. As the aftersales operation develops, you'll then use that knowledge to support vehicles in service, carrying out diagnostics, repairs and occasional customer-site support.

18.00 - 21.00 per hour depending on experience and capability. 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Permanent position with immediate starts available.
