About the role

Position Overview:
The Vehicle Durability Attribute Manager is responsible for ensuring robust durability performance of our products through the development and validation of vehicle, sub-system, and component-level durability targets. This role involves leading activities related to Road Load Data Acquisition (RLDA), duty cycle creation for various markets, structural failure mode analysis, and life prediction of vehicles under diverse durability cycles. The focus is to deliver durable vehicles capable of withstanding real-world operating conditions, including thermal (winter/summer), misuse, and abuse scenarios, while achieving competitive benchmarks.

In this position, the Durability Manager will lead innovation in durability attribute development, ensuring long-term product reliability, structural integrity, and customer satisfaction by ensuring optimised cost and weight, stiffness of part / assembly.

Position Responsibilities
• Lead Road Load Data Acquisition (RLDA) campaigns and create representative duty cycles for target markets.
• Define vehicle-level durability targets and cascade them to sub-system and component-level requirements.
• Conduct structural failure mode analysis and drive resolution of durability-related issues.
• Derive vehicle life predictions based on durability cycles using analytical and physical validation methods.
• Develop and validate thermal durability strategies, addressing extreme environmental conditions (winter, summer).
• Define and execute test plans covering misuse and abuse load cases to validate vehicle robustness.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate durability solutions into the product development process.
• Lead technical reviews focused on durability performance, issue resolution, and validation.
• Work closely with suppliers to ensure components meet durability specifications.
• Continuously monitor and improve durability attribute performance throughout the product lifecycle.
• Mentor and support junior team members in developing durability engineering skills. Able to train and mentor young members in the team to develop technical skill sets.

Position Requirements
Education / Professional Knowledge:
• Degree - Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field, with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in vehicle durability development and testing.
• Extensive knowledge of durability engineering, RLDA, failure analysis, and life prediction methodologies.

Skill / Experience:
• Proven experience in leading vehicle durability development projects.
• Expertise in Road Load Data Acquisition (RLDA) and duty cycle creation for global markets.
• Strong understanding of structural failure modes and mitigation strategies.
• Ability to define and predict vehicle life under various durability cycles.
• Experience in thermal durability and validation under extreme climatic conditions.
• Knowledge of misuse and abuse load case development and validation.
• Proficiency in durability testing and validation methods, both virtual (CAE) and physical.
• Strong project management skills and experience working with cross-functional teams.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical skills, and attention to detail.
• Outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written (English).

Other requirements:
• Leadership ability in a multidisciplinary engineering environment.
• Familiarity with industry standards and regulatory requirements in vehicle durability.
• Strong supplier management and collaboration skills.
• Proficiency in relevant durability software tools and technologies (e.g., nCode, HyperWorks, LMS).
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
