VDC Manager II Commercial

About This Role

This VDC Manager II role is for a construction professional with expertise in Virtual Design Construction and Building Information Modeling (BIM). The position involves managing and implementing BIM/VDC services across multiple projects, training project staff, and marketing these services both internally and externally. It suits a leader who can drive the adoption of BIM/VDC standards and support various stages of construction projects from planning to facility management.

Responsibilities

• Increase BIM/VDC service standard training and adoption regionally
• Manage and implement BIM/VDC services on multiple projects
• Train project staff on BIM/VDC processes and services
• Spend time at regional jobsites implementing BIM/VDC processes
• Market BIM/VDC services internally and externally
• Present BIM/VDC projects and services at industry-related conferences and forums
• Stay current on what is being marketed/executed by competitors regionally
• Create project-specific BIM Project Execution Plans and Templates (BEPs)
• Identify BIM/VDC requirements in technical specifications
• Create BIM/VDC contract language and consultant agreements on assigned projects
• Manage BIM/VDC consultants for their business unit
• Create models including site logistics, structure, interior/exterior architecture, and MEP/FP systems as needed
• Manage model authoring, revisions, versioning, exchange, validation, and as-builts
• Create custom model components and families
• Manage model authoring service providers and sub-trades regionally
• Support the development of 4D service standards for national adoption
• Create and manage 4D project schedules on multiple projects
• Support the development of coordination service standards for national adoption
• Lead and/or manage BIM/VDC coordination effort on multiple projects
• Train and support BIM/VDC coordination teams on multiple projects
• Manage the production of dimensioned drawings for field use on multiple projects
• Manage BIM/VDC layout and assist in field as-built verification on multiple projects
• Manage and coordinate model turnover on multiple projects
• Support the development of 5D service standards for national adoption
• Manage the validation of models for model-based quantity takeoff
• Create model-based quantity surveys for estimate verification
• Model components as needed for accurate quantity takeoff
• Participate in development of 5D Estimating standards and processes
• Develop, implement, and manage an FM strategy based on the Owner’s needs and future goals
