About This Role
This UX Designer role at Kainos focuses on delivering intuitive service experiences grounded in user needs and design principles. The position involves advocating for design thinking and service design, while also managing, coaching, and developing a small team of staff. You will contribute to a growing Experience Design capability, creating exemplary digital services with a passion for user-centred design.
Responsibilities
- Define design strategy and communicate benefits to senior stakeholders
- Identify and design methods of ideation appropriate to the business context and project requirements
- Use journey maps to inform business and customer recommendations
- Coordinate the production of prototypes to meet the needs of user testing and development
- Conduct usability testing and incorporate research into design strategy
- Collaborate to create new Information Architecture based on analysis and research
- Advocate and promote accessibility and AD standards across projects
- Guide other teams and stakeholders in best practice for User-Centred Design across a project lifecycle
- Mentor junior team members and represent UX design across Kainos
- Manage, coach, and develop members of your team and wider community
Requirements
- Able to define design strategy and communicate benefits to senior stakeholders

- Co-ordinates the production of prototypes to meet the needs of user testing and development
- Able to conduct usability testing; can incorporate research into design strategy
- Collaborates to create new IA based on analysis and research
- Advocates and promotes accessibility and AD standards across projects
- Guides other teams and stakeholders in best practice for UCD across a project lifecycle
- Mentors junior team members and represents UX design across Kainos
- Demonstrated ability in managing, coaching and developing members of your team and wider community
Nice to have:
- Experience working with Agile delivery methodologies
- Experience in assisting with or conducting research and analysing findings to identify content needs
- Experience working in a full-service digital agency environment
- Active member of relevant communities, e.g. online groups, speaking at conferences
