Utility Systems Repairer-Operator

Duties

WG-07 The incumbent is the operator in entry level stage under the technical supervision of the lead USRO (Utility Systems Repairer-Operator) for the water systems and wastewater systems. Incumbent is responsible for learning the proper methods of operation, monitoring, and maintenance of water treatment facilities, storage and distribution systems which provide between 500 and 50,000 gallons per day for public and domestic use. Incumbent is responsible for learning the proper methods for the efficient operation, maintenance, repair, and monitoring of an Activated Sludge/Extended Aeration Treatment plant with state of the art treatment processes under the direct supervision of the lead USRO. Under the direct supervision of the lead USRO the incumbent learns proper methods for operations and daily operator maintenance techniques for various kinds of water and wastewater treatment equipment.

WG-08 Incumbent is the operator in the developmental stage under the technical supervision of the lead USRO (Utility Systems Repairer-Operator) for the water systems and wastewater systems. Incumbent is the operator for the water systems and operator in training for the wastewater systems and is responsible for learning the proper methods of monitoring, and maintenance of water treatment facilities, storage and distribution systems which provide between 500 and 50,000 gallons per day for public and domestic use. Incumbent is the operator in training for the Wastewater Treatment systems and has a working knowledge of the operation, maintenance, repair, and monitoring of an Activated Sludge/Extended Aeration Treatment plant with state of the art treatment processes and is able to perform these functions with limited supervision. Operates with limited supervision, and has a working knowledge of troubleshooting, and repair techniques for various kinds of water and wastewater treatment equipment.

WG-09 Under the technical supervision of the lead USRO (Utility Systems Repairer-Operator) the incumbent is responsible for the water systems and wastewater systems. Incumbent is the operator for the water systems and wastewater systems and is responsible for proper operation, monitoring, and maintenance of water treatment facilities, storage and distribution systems which provide between 500 and 50,000 gallons per day for public and domestic use. Incumbent is the operator for the Wastewater Treatment systems and is responsible for the efficient operation, maintenance, repairs, and monitoring of an Activated Sludge / Extended Aeration Treatment plant with state of the art treatment processes. Operates, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs various kinds of water and wastewater treatment equipment.

Duties will be developmental in nature when filled below the full performance level.

Qualifications

Ability to do the work of a Utility Systems Repair Operator without more than normal supervision (Screen out):
WG 7 level: entry-level Utility Systems Repairer/Operator duties: experience in assisting the operation and maintenance of a water & wastewater treatment facility, or a utility system related to water production and treatment. Must possess a state of California Water Treatment Grade 1 license, a California Water Distribution Grade 1 license, or equivalent license from another state and can meet the reciprocity conditions.

WG 8 level: Able to perform full range of Utility Systems Repairer/Operator duties under general supervision subject to occasional inspection. Experience in the operation and maintenance of a water treatment facility, a wastewater treatment facility or a utility system related to water and wastewater production and treatment. Must possess a state of California Water Treatment Grade 2, California Water Distribution Grade 1 or equivalent license from another state and can meet the reciprocity conditions and have a CA Grade 1 Wastewater Certificate OR passed the CA Wastewater Grade 1 test and possess an Operator in Training.

WG 9 level: Able to perform full range of Utility Systems Repairer/Operator duties independently under general supervision subject to occasional inspection. Experience in the operation and maintenance of a water treatment facility, a wastewater treatment facility or a major utility system related to water and wastewater production and treatment. Must possess a state of California Water Treatment Grade 2, California Water Distribution Grade 2, and have a CA Grade 2 Wastewater certificate OR have passed the CA Wastewater Treatment Grade 2 test and possess an Operator in Training.
