Unreal Engine Multiplayer Developer (UE5)

About This Role

Unreal Engine Multiplayer Developer (UE5) is an implementation and development role focused on building, refining, and optimizing online multiplayer systems for a next-generation golf simulator. You will collaborate with developers to integrate multiplayer systems, resolve networking challenges, and ensure a smooth experience for players across different locations and hardware configurations within an existing Unreal Engine 5 project.

Responsibilities

• Assist with implementing online multiplayer functionality in Unreal Engine 5
• Develop and refine player lobbies, matchmaking, session creation, joining, and reconnection
• Implement player synchronisation, including ball positions, shot results, player states, and game progression
• Support turn-based multiplayer gameplay across multiple game formats
• Implement replication and RPC functionality using Unreal Engine's networking framework
• Handle player disconnections, timeouts, and session recovery
• Help ensure consistent gameplay across clients with varying network conditions
• Integrate multiplayer functionality with existing golf gameplay and physics systems
• Work with Unreal Engine Online Services and existing PlayFab backend
• Identify and resolve multiplayer bugs, replication issues, and network-related performance problems

Requirements

• Strong commercial experience developing games using Unreal Engine 5
• Proven experience implementing multiplayer systems in Unreal Engine
• Strong understanding of Unreal Engine networking, replication, RPCs, and client/server architecture
• Proficiency in C++ and Blueprints
• Experience with Unreal Engine Online Subsystems or Online Services
• Understanding of lobby systems, session management, and player synchronisation
• Experience debugging multiplayer networking and replication issues
• Ability to work effectively within an existing, established codebase
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
• Has shipped or contributed significantly to a multiplayer Unreal Engine title
