Unreal Engine Lighting Artist

About This Role

This role focuses on virtual production, creating and executing lighting and shader content for previsualization, post-visualization, and final pixel. The artist will work with the Real Time Team, ensuring photo-real and real-time lighting and look development align with visual and production goals.

Responsibilities

• Create and execute lighting and shader content for previsualization, post-visualization, and final pixel
• Anticipate and plan to achieve visual and production execution goals

Requirements

• 3+ years of Unreal Engine Lighting experience
• Experience creating and designing lighting for different scenes and environments
• Experience with Unreal lighting techniques and solutions
• Understanding of photo-real, real-world lighting and the ability to match live action footage lighting information
• Good understanding of GPU Lightmass and dynamic vs baked lighting
• Ability to use, setup and trouble-shoot Unreal Lumen Lighting techniques
• Ability to use Light to create mood and atmosphere based on artistic direction
• Excellent understanding of color, materials, mood, space and the properties of light
• Experience optimizing shots for rendering
• Proficiency with Unreal Blueprints and shaders and how they work to enhance the overall lighting look of assets, environments and characters
• Experience with asset ingest, scene setup, optimization, and validation of look and performance of scenes
• Experience developing games, applications, or VR/AR experiences using Unreal Engine
• Self-motivated, proactive and able to utilize allotted time efficiently
• Highly experienced in working as part of a development team
• Excellent communication skills in English; both written and verbal
• Problem solving skills, self-starter, adapt to production changes are required skills
• Up-to-date reel showcasing required skill set
• Reliable internet connection via ethernet
• Ability to work on Pacific Standard Time
