Unit Clerk

Position Summary

• The Unit Clerk transcribes and posts Physicians orders; maintains Medication Administration Records; transcribes appropriate information on patient's graphic record; assists in maintaining PAR Levels of supplies for the Nursing Unit; maintains an organized work environment; facilitates communication between staff, patients, families and/or visitors.

Education

• High School or Graduate Equivalent - GED General Studies - Preferred

Experience

• 1 Year Unit Clerk or Customer Service - Preferred

License & Certification

• Basic Life Support (BLS) - Required

Core Job Functions

• Call lights and phones are answered in an efficient and professional manner and messages are communicated to the appropriate person. Work area is kept organized and clean.
• Demonstrates the ability to enter orders appropriately, acknowledge new orders and perform review every shift. Monitors and performs orders for labs, medication and necessary interventions. Utilizes online incident reporting for any variance that may occur during the care of the patient.
• Creates and maintains welcoming environment for patient, families, and staff. Assumes responsibility for patient satisfaction related to instructions, wait times, anticipation of needs, and registration process. Promptly answers telephones, voice mails, and emails.
• Maintains a collaborative relationship with co-workers and patients. Completes daily task and all duties as assigned. Respects patient privacy rights and complies with patient satisfaction guidelines.
