Underwriter / Trainee Underwriter

About This Role

This full-time position for an Underwriter or Trainee Underwriter involves joining the credit team of an independent asset finance company. The role focuses on analysing financial information, assessing credit risk, and supporting sound lending decisions while ensuring regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

• Review and assess new credit applications daily
• Assist the internal sales team in structuring proposals and preparing transactions for underwriting
• Analyse financial information, including statutory and management accounts
• Assess customer information, security valuations, and director guarantees
• Identify and challenge risks within credit proposals and ensure risks to the business are appropriately managed
• Develop an understanding of responsible lending requirements, including CONC 5, creditworthiness assessments, and Consumer Duty
• Work closely with the sales team and provide feedback on lending appetite
• Support experienced underwriters with more complex transactions and develop sound credit judgement
