Ultrasound Technician

About This Role

Performing diagnostic ultrasound examinations is the core of this role, providing services appropriate to the age of the patients. This position requires competence in obtaining images and performing ultrasound studies with adults, geriatric patients, and children, while also recognizing signs and symptoms of abuse or neglect.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations
• Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide ultrasound services appropriate to the age of the patients
• Be cognizant of safety issues, both environmental and medical
• Obtain images and perform ultrasound studies with adults, geriatric patients, and children
• Adjust protocols as necessary
• Communicate instructions appropriate to the specific needs of the patient
• Recognize signs and symptoms of abuse or neglect in adult, geriatric, or pediatric patients
• Meet hospital's continuing education requirements by enhancing professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings and workshops, as well as association groups

Requirements

• Graduate of an approved school of Diagnostic Medical Sonography
• BLS Certification required upon hire
• ARDMS or ARRT required upon hire

Nice to have:

• 1 year as Ultrasound Technologist

• On-call duty: Required
