Role Overview
Performs diagnostic medical sonograms following professional standards and procedures.
Responsibilities
Review consultation requests, check for special instructions, and consult with Radiologists as needed.
Complete documentation and results for exams.
Greet patients, confirm identification, explain procedures, and demonstrate equipment knowledge.
Perform routine ultrasound procedures, assist with US-guided biopsies/drainages, and verify patient consent.
Evaluate lab values and ensure exam prerequisites are met.
Manage supplies, conduct safety inspections, and perform quality assurance tests.
Evaluate scan quality, demonstrate anatomy correctly, and maintain departmental standards.
Add on exams when possible, verify order entry, and ensure compliance with accreditation standards.
Follow safety protocols, recognize emergencies, and administer first aid or CPR if necessary.
