Truck Driver - Hiker/Vehicle Transporter - Part Time

About This Role

This unique part-time position is for a highly motivated Hiker (Vehicle Transporter/Truck Driver) responsible for delivering and returning vehicles to Penske locations and customers. The role primarily involves moving box trucks up to 26 feet, and for CDL Class A holders, includes tractor and trailer movement. This casual, on-call job is ideal for licensed Class C drivers seeking supplemental income.

Responsibilities

• Follow appropriate safety procedures while driving trucks to Penske locations or customer destinations
• Check vehicles to ensure mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order, reporting any issues to the location manager
• Obtain receipts or signatures for delivered goods and collect payment for services when required
• Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to vehicles
• Assist the service department by delivering parts and equipment
• Perform other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor

Requirements

• 2 years of driving experience
• 2 years of a clean DMV motor vehicle record
• Valid Class B CDL
• Domiciled in the U.S. and licensed in your state of residence
• Ability to read and follow written instructions
• Ability to work independently
• Customer service skills
• Organizational skills
• Positive attitude
• English language proficiency (compliant with federal law 49 C.F.R. 391.11(b)(2))
• Regular, predictable, full attendance
• Current driver qualification file to be maintained as required by DOT regulations, including:
  • Annual motor vehicle records (MVR) check
  • Successfully completed DOT Physical
  • Safety Performance History records request from prior employers in the last 3 years
• Willingness to travel as necessary
• Willingness to work the required schedule
• Willingness to complete Penske employment application
• Willingness to submit to a background investigation (to include past employment, education, and criminal history) and drug screening
• Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner
• Ability to accept responsibility for your own safety, as well as the safety of others
• Ability to see and hear; specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
• Ability to move frequently, stand, walk, and sit
• Ability to use hands to touch, handle, and feel, and to reach with hands and arms
• Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 50lbs/23kg and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100lbs/45kg
