About This Role
This dispatcher position is a vital part of a dynamic logistics team, coordinating freight movements and ensuring clear communication between drivers, carriers, and clients. The role offers the opportunity to manage daily transportation operations, optimize delivery schedules, and contribute to the efficiency of the supply chain.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and assign freight loads to drivers using transportation management systems (TMS) and other dispatch software
- Communicate clearly and professionally with drivers, carriers, and customers via multi-line phone systems
- Monitor shipment progress, troubleshoot issues, and provide real-time updates to stakeholders
- Maintain accurate data entry of shipment details, delivery schedules, and driver logs using systems like AS400 and SyteLine
- Analyze transportation data to identify opportunities for efficiency improvements within the supply chain
- Oversee shipping and receiving processes to ensure timely pickup and delivery of freight
- Collaborate with third-party logistics providers (3PL) to coordinate freight movements and resolve any logistical challenges
Requirements
- Proven experience with transportation management systems (TMS), AS400, and SyteLine is highly desirable
- Strong understanding of supply chain operations, freight logistics, and shipping and receiving procedures
- Excellent communication skills with professional phone etiquette and the ability to handle multi-line phone systems effectively
- Proficiency in data entry, typing accuracy, and analysis skills for managing transportation records
- Familiarity with 3PL providers and freight management practices
- Ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Strong organizational skills with the capacity to perform analysis on transportation data for process improvements
