About the role

Duties

Supervises hazardous tree surveys, which include detecting, identifying, recording, and prioritizing tree hazards. Supervises the daily forestry operation responsible for falling, bucking, removing, and disposal of hazard and non-hazard trees and limbs. Delegates work, provides technical direction, coordinates work among teams, inspects completed work, supports and explains management programs to subordinates, recommends performance ratings, training, awards, disciplinary action; counsels employees, investigates/resolve grievances and complaints informally; maintains work reports and records, assists in planning overall work and leave schedules.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors:

  1. Ability to supervise (SCREEN OUT). Examples of qualifying experience may include supervising tree workers or arborists to accomplish assigned objectives; supervising maintenance crews or forestry technicians cutting trees; or lead apprentice and journeyman level tree works, arborists, or forestry technicians.
  2. Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision (SCREEN OUT). Examples of qualifying experience may include performing the most difficult and complex Tree Worker duties at the journey level with a high degree of independence. This experience includes: tree hazard identification, tree climbing, tree pruning, tree hazard reduction or tree removal. Train, direct or install complex multi-point rigging systems while tree climbing, working from aerial lift trucks or at ground level. Select compatible rigging gear for weights being applied. Fall trees of all species, sizes and complexity to predetermined direction.
  3. Possession of a valid-state issued Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with air brakes endorsement (SCREEN OUT) is required for this position OR you must be able to obtain one within six months. You must be able to maintain this license as a condition of employment. You must indicate your Driver's License number and expiration date on your resume to receive consideration.
