Description
American Traveler is hiring a Level III/IV NICU RN for a night shift assignment requiring NRP certification and prior neonatal ICU experience.
Details
- Level III/IV Neonatal ICU setting
- Patient ratio of 1:3
- Night shift, 3x12 hours (19:00-7:00), 36 hours per week
- 3 weekends required per 6-week scheduling period
- Must work 2 of the 3 winter holidays
- Floating required within scope of practice as needed
- Epic EMR experience required
Requirements
- Active VA or Compact RN license required (pending accepted, must be in hand by the Wednesday before start date)
- BLS and NRP certifications required in-hand
- Dr. Brown's Infant Driven Feeding Certificate required (may be pending at submission)
- Minimum 2 years of NICU experience required
- BSN preferred
- Skilled in neonatal care including UAC/UVC, central line care, IV therapy, and neonatal dosage calculations
- Experience with high frequency ventilation, nitric oxide (iNO), and ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP)
- Experience with therapeutic hypothermia (cooling blanket) and dysrhythmia interpretation/management
- Two professional references required
- Copies of all required certifications required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provide comprehensive neonatal ICU nursing care including assisting with lumbar punctures, chest tube management, and tracheostomy care
- Support post-abdominal surgery and colostomy/ileostomy management as needed
- Specialty-specific modules completed during orientation (up to 16 non-billable hours)
- Maximum of 40 hours RTO approved per contract; no time off approved during the first two weeks of the assignment
- Any vacation time between sign date and start date must be disclosed to allow for appropriate start date planning
- Previous UVA Health employment (permanent staff or traveler) must be disclosed; 1-year separation and leadership approval required for rehire eligibility
- External travelers may not exceed 365 total assignment days and are not eligible to return once that threshold is reached
- No radius restriction for this unit
