Description
American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Bone Marrow Transplant/Oncology unit position requiring 2 years of BMT/Heme experience and CO or Compact RN licensure.
Details
- 51-bed inpatient unit caring for patients with blood cancers receiving chemotherapy, biotherapies, and cellular therapies such as stem cell transplants and CAR-T
- Rotating day and night shifts (3x12 hours), various days of the week
- Weekend shifts required per unit needs
- No on-call requirements
- Nurse-to-patient ratios of 3-4:1, which may flex up based on staffing and unit needs
- Uses Epic EMR
- May float between BMT/Onc and CTU units, and to sister facilities within the metro region
- Navy scrub color required
Requirements
- Active CO or Compact RN license required
- AHA BLS certification required
- ONC (Oncology) certification required
- 2 years of acute care BMT/Heme experience required
- Prior chemotherapy administration experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Epic charting experience required
- Comfortable working in environments with flexible staffing ratios
- Skilled in care of oncologic emergencies including tumor lysis syndrome, anaphylaxis, extravasation injury, hemorrhage, sepsis, and spinal cord compression
- Experienced in IV therapy, blood product administration, central line care, and port management
- Experienced in bone marrow and stem cell transplant care, including CAR-T and graft-versus-host disease management
- Experienced in chemotherapy administration via multiple routes and management of cytotoxic spills
- Skilled in symptom management for chemotherapy-related side effects
- Experience caring for patients with leukemia, lymphoma, and multiple myeloma
Additional Information
- Provide direct care to patients undergoing chemotherapy, biotherapy, and cellular therapy treatments
- Monitor and manage oncologic emergencies and treatment-related complications
- Administer bone marrow, stem cell, and CAR-T therapies as part of a specialized oncology team
- Practice neutropenic precautions and manage chest tube care as needed
- Completion of facility-specific training modules required within the first week of assignment
- First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
- Candidates previously employed by UCHealth or its affiliates must disclose this information for eligibility review
- Maximum of 10 RTO days approved per 13-week contract, with blackout periods restricting time off during certain weeks
- No blocked scheduling requests permitted
- Local candidates accepted if residing within 75 miles of the facility
