Travel Registered Nurse

About This Role

This night-shift post on the cardiac ward pairs patient care with mentoring new nurses.

Responsibilities

• Provide OR nursing care in a high-volume surgical environment, including orthopedic, general surgery, OB/GYN, and endoscopy cases
• Assist with scrub and circulating duties, instrument and equipment setup, and maintaining sterile technique throughout procedures
• Support patient positioning, labeling, and retrieval of implants/instruments (including Stryker, Arthrex, DePuy systems) as required by cases
• Monitor patient status intraoperatively, document events in the medical record, and communicate changes with surgeons and anesthesia providers
• Collaborate with OR team to ensure patient safety, accurate case cart management, and adherence to unit protocols; participate in on-call rotation to support staffing and coverage needs
• Document perioperative care in the Meditech system and assist with postoperative handoff as assigned

Requirements

• Current RN license in New York (state of assignment)
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
• Minimum of two years of recent OR nursing experience
• Comfortable working across Orthopedics (Stryker, Arthrex, DePuy), General Surgery, OB/GYN, and Endoscopy
• Availability to provide on-call coverage as needed
• COVID vaccine not required; Flu vaccine or declination accepted
• Mask required if declining vaccination

• Assignment length: 13 weeks
• Guaranteed hours: 40 per week
• Schedule: 7:30 AM–5:15 PM with on-call coverage as needed
• Setting: Hospital operating room with multiple specialties
