Travel Nurse RN - Pediatrics ER - Emergency Room

About This Role

This night-shift post in the pediatric emergency room involves caring for children in urgent and emergency situations. The role suits a registered nurse with recent acute care experience who can triage, evaluate, and implement care for pediatric patients in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Appropriately evaluate, triage, and implement care using correct procedures and physician instructions
• Perform minor medical operations
• Advise patients and family on illnesses or injuries
• Plan long-term care needs
• Document medical history
• Check for any allergies the patients might have
• Obtain patients' vital signs
• Monitor patients' emotional and physical well-being
• Provide basic bedside care to pediatric patients
• Maintain privacy and confidentiality in nurse/child relationships
• Participate in activities to manage a child's pain
• Evaluate a child for signs and symptoms of abuse
• Serve as a child advocate

Requirements

• At least 1-2 years of recent acute care experience
• Experience and skill caring for pediatric patients in a fast-paced, urgent, and emergency environment
• BLS certification
• ACLS certification
• PALS certification
• Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time, as well as bend, lean, and stoop without difficulty
• Ability to move or lift patients up to 50 pounds at a time
• Good skills for coping with stress
• Ability to relate to people of all ages and backgrounds, especially the adolescent population
