Antepartum / Labor & Delivery RN – Austin, TX
Facility: St. David’s North Austin Medical Center
Unit: Antepartum / L&D
Contract: 13 weeks
Shift: 7P–7A
Start: ASAP
Weekends: Rotating
Call: None
Beds: 24
Ratios: Typically 1:3–1:4 , occasionally 1:2 depending on acuity EMR: Meditech + CPN
Scrubs: Navy blue
Required Certifications
- BLS
- ACLS
- AWHONN
- NRP
Experience
L&D RNs will be utilized in the Antepartum unit.
Strong candidates should have:
- Previous Labor & Delivery and/or Antepartum experience
- High-risk obstetric patient experience
- Strong fetal monitoring skills
- Comfort managing higher-acuity antepartum patients
Common Patient Care / Procedures
- Non-stress tests
- Hyperemesis management
- Magnesium sulfate administration
- Insulin drips
- Heparin drips
- Antepartum monitoring and assessment
Staffing
Typical staffing includes:
- 1 Charge RN
- Approximately 4 bedside RNs
- 1 unit clerk during days
- No PCT coverage overnight
Ideal Candidate
Best fit is an experienced L&D RN who is comfortable working primarily Antepartum and managing medically complex or high-risk obstetric patients. Teamwork, communication, and flexibility are highly valued.
Recruiter Notes
This is not strictly a traditional L&D assignment . The facility is specifically using L&D-trained nurses to staff its Antepartum unit , so candidates should be comfortable with NSTs, magnesium, insulin/heparin drips, and high-risk pregnancy management.
Big selling point: No call , 13-week night contract, and ratios generally around 1:3–1:4 .
