Call: Required on all scheduled workdays and weekends
Weekend Requirement: Call only; actual weekend cases are reported as very infrequent
Feedback/Offer: Facility can provide 24-hour turnaround
Position Overview
Seeking an experienced CVOR RN to provide safe perioperative care throughout cardiovascular surgical procedures. RN will assess patient needs, develop and implement individualized plans of care, coordinate the OR room, and provide leadership to the surgical team.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess surgical patients before and during procedures
- Develop, implement, and evaluate perioperative plans of care
- Maintain patient safety throughout surgery
- Lead and coordinate OR room activity
- Anticipate procedural and scheduling needs
- Assemble required equipment and supplies
- Assist anesthesia as needed
- Monitor and maintain the sterile field
- Communicate with surgeons, anesthesia, OR staff, patients, and families
- Participate in continuing education, precepting, and staff development
Hard Requirements
- 3+ years recent CVOR experience
- Open heart surgical experience
- Active Michigan RN license
- AHA BLS
- AHA ACLS
- Current CVOR skills checklist
- 2 supervisory references completed within the last 2 years
Preferred
- Recent travel RN experience
Call Expectations
Call is required on all days worked and on weekends . Travelers are not routinely scheduled to physically work weekend shifts, but must remain available for call and report if a case is scheduled. Weekend callbacks are described as very infrequent .
Important Scheduling Note
All scheduling requests/RTO must be submitted upfront. The facility will not approve new scheduling requests at or after offer, and post-offer requests could result in the offer being rescinded.

This is a true CVOR/open-heart position . General OR experience alone will not qualify. Best candidate has strong recent cardiovascular surgery experience, including open-heart cases, and is comfortable with a significant call requirement.
