Travel Agent

About This Role

Working in a growing travel agency, the Travel Agent supports customers throughout the booking process, from their first enquiry to their return home. This customer-facing role is based entirely in the office and suits someone who enjoys helping customers find and book the right holiday.

Responsibilities

• Handle enquiries in person, by telephone and by email
• Research destinations, flights, accommodation, transfers and other travel arrangements
• Create and present suitable holiday options, including package holidays and long-haul trips
• Provide accurate quotations and convert enquiries into bookings
• Make and amend reservations using supplier and booking systems
• Explain travel documents, entry requirements, payment schedules and booking terms to customers
• Offer relevant extras, such as travel insurance, excursions or upgrades, where appropriate
• Manage booking administration, payments and customer records accurately
• Liaise with tour operators, airlines, hotels and other suppliers to resolve queries
• Support customers when plans change or issues arise before or during travel
• Build lasting relationships that encourage repeat bookings and referrals

Requirements

• Previous experience in a travel agency or a similar travel sales role
• Confident handling customer enquiries and bookings
• Good destination knowledge
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to explain options clearly
• Ability to manage several bookings at different stages
• Ability to work accurately under pressure
• Ability to provide a friendly, professional service
• Live within reasonable travelling distance of the Cumbria office

Nice to have:

• Experience arranging both package holidays and long-haul travel
