Job Description Summary Supervises daily routing of McLane deliveries, assists with training of new teammates, and time off coverage.

Essential Job Functions / Principal Accountabilities

  • Manage assigned tasks associated with one or more projects.
  • Understand and communicate all processes associated with routing, reporting, and analysis to improve transportation and customer on time performance.
  • Complete daily, cyclical, and seasonal routing using provided routing software for assigned centers.
  • Maintain transportation routing systems: Geo locations, customer time windows, unloading parameters, and new customer additions and deletions.
  • Develop, analyze, and summarize transportation reporting to key executives within the company.
  • Communicate with the local DC Transportation and Customer Service teams to provide daily routing data.
  • Analyze and summarize current route performance via metric reporting to implement cost effective future state changes to meet company driver, asset utilization, and expense goals.
  • Travel to the distribution centers as needed to build “local knowledge” base and gain relationship insights.
  • Train/mentor new routers in both routing software and continuous improvement processes.
  • Supervise a team of routers to ensure processes and procedures are followed.
  • Assist with vacation/time off coverage.
  • Become subject matter expert with routing systems.
  • Perform other duties may be assigned.

Minimum Skills And Qualification Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain Logistics, Transportation, or related field.
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience in a leadership role in routing, dispatching or transportation.
  • 3-5 years of experience utilizing an optimization routing software package.
  • Ability to multitask and resolve complex situations.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Effective communication and leadership skills.

Working Conditions:

  • Office / Hybrid environment
  • Travel required up to 20% of the time.
