Translator

About This Role

This contract role is for a Translator within the small Translation Department, which is part of the Products and Marketing Department. The Translator provides French translation, editing, proofreading, and project management services, ensuring all materials meet Fidelity's high standards and strengthen the brand's integrity. The role also involves proofreading internal and external translations.

Responsibilities

• Provide translation services in accordance with industry regulations and Fidelity’s high standards
• Integrate the translation function within Marketing Operations to deliver quality material within deadlines
• Review and provide approval, in consultation with the Team Manager or Manager, for all French material with accuracy
• Negotiate timelines with internal partners with the help of the Team Manager or Manager
• Bring any unresolved issues to the attention of the Team Manager or Manager, as required
• Review and proofread material translated by external and other internal resources to ensure the quality of the French language meets Fidelity’s standards
• Monitor quality and make decisions in consultation with the Team Manager or Manager regarding terminology, language style, and content
• Conduct in-depth terminology research specific to the industry as required, using various government and specialized sources available
• Maintain and improve Fidelity’s internal terminology base and glossary
• Keep abreast of new terms and trends through French papers to ensure the language used in Fidelity’s documents is both appropriate and quality focused

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of translation experience, preferably in the financial industry or a related industry
• Bachelor’s degree in Translation from a recognized institution or equivalent experience
• Strong communication skills in English and French
• Knowledge of financial markets and terminology
• Ability to translate in both languages with accuracy and appropriate style
• Strong organizational skills and ability to work with changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Self-organization and self-management skills, as well as ability to take initiative and work with minimal direction
• Proficient with machine translation software, including GlobalLink

Nice to have:

• Membership in a recognized professional association such as the Association of Translators and Interpreters of Ontario (ATIO) or the Ordre des traducteurs, terminologues et interprètes du Québec (OTTIAQ)
• Willingness to participate in promotional videos for digital content
