About This Role

Translating written material and spoken language between Japanese and English is the core of this job, ensuring accurate meaning transfer and supporting business functions. The role suits a detail-oriented individual with strong communication skills and a positive work attitude.

Responsibilities

• Read through original material and rewrite it in the target language, ensuring that the meaning of the source text is retained
• Use translation software to ensure consistency of translation within documents and help efficiency
• Use specialist dictionaries, thesauruses, and reference books to find the closest equivalent for terminology and words used
• Liaise with clients or requesters to discuss any unclear points
• Proofread and edit final translated versions
• Provide clients or requesters with a grammatically correct, well-expressed final version of the translated text
• Prioritize work to meet deadlines
• Attend meetings and business functions upon request and translate information into the required language
• Monitor, track, and manage own translation tasks
• Coordinate with stakeholders to plot, manage, and track translation schedules
• Identify best practices and apply to applicable documents or projects
• Update Translation Memory according to best practices and updated expression or terminologies
• Perform tasks and projects as may be assigned by management

Requirements

• University Graduate, preferably in IT or Computer Engineering-related courses
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Self-motivated to learn new concepts and participate
• Willing to work some longer hours during peak periods
• Ability to work in high-stress situations
• Experience interacting with top management

Nice to have:

• Knowledge of and experience with printer software solution business
