Translator

About This Role

Translating and interpreting between English and Chinese is the core of this role, providing crucial language support for an Internet Data Center (IDC) project team. The translator will work on-site, handling real-time interpretation, technical document translation, and cross-cultural communication to ensure smooth operations.

Responsibilities

• Provide real-time interpretation support (English-Chinese bilingual) for the project team during equipment installation, network commissioning, and troubleshooting scenarios on-site at the IDC
• Translate and organize IDC operations and maintenance (O&M) documentation, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), change notices, and emergency response plans, ensuring synchronized updates for both bilingual versions
• Assist the project team with technical alignment, including simultaneous interpretation during meetings, and translation of ticketing logs (Work Orders) and email correspondence
• Participate in daily data center walk-throughs; record, translate, and report equipment alarms and environmental monitoring data to ensure timely escalation of anomalies
• Collaborate with the Project Manager to facilitate cross-cultural communication and provide ad-hoc language support during critical or emergency situations

Requirements

• College degree or above
• Proficient in both Chinese and English, capable of using both as working languages for fluent oral and written communication
• Familiar with foundational terminology for IDC, servers, and network equipment (e.g., UPS, PDU, Switches, Bandwidth, Latency, etc.)
• Strong sense of responsibility, excellent on-site adaptability, and high cross-cultural communication awareness

Nice to have:

• Majors in English/Translation, Telecommunications Engineering, Computer Science, or related fields are highly preferred
• Prior translation experience in the IT or telecom industry is highly preferred
• Fluency in Bahasa Melayu is a strong plus
