ACTIVA, the innovation and entrepreneurship laboratory of the Tropical Agricultural Research and Higher Education Center (CATIE), in partnership with the Development Banking System (SBD), launches the 1st call for the granting of financial resources and acceleration to the best companies in the rural sector of the country, being able to receive a non-refundable seed capital of 13,000,000 colones, in addition to specialized mentoring in business development.

- Transformative-Acceleration: Rural companies formed as a legal entity duly registered as MIPyMES before the MEIC or as PYMPA before the MAG with more than 96 months of operation.

Who can participate?

Companies that reside or are headquartered in any of the rural areas of Costa Rica

Companies interested in carrying out sustainability certification processes such as Blue Flag, Costa Rica Essential and others similar.

Companies interested in developing or adopting low-carbon technological innovations or with the capacity to adopt carbon emissions.

Companies that demonstrate that they carry out or have an interest in carrying out production chains with local communities.

Companies that have not had conflicts in the past with ACTIVA-CATIE or any other seed capital operating agency.

Companies that develop their entrepreneurial ventures in the areas of:

How to participate?
- Complete the form provided here before September 1, 2024 .
- Attach the minimum requirements requested in the application: 1) demonstrate that you have at least 3 employees (not including the owners); 2) sales history of the previous 3 years through the income tax return; 3) belong to the areas of nature tourism, forestry, cocoa or coffee.
- Attendance at the induction workshop is mandatory. Companies that apply and meet the initial requirements will receive an invitation to attend the mandatory virtual workshop where the details of the competition will be explained.
