ACTIVA, the innovation and entrepreneurship laboratory of the Tropical Agricultural Research and Higher Education Center (CATIE), in partnership with the Development Banking System (SBD) and within the framework of the "TRANSFORMA-INNOVA" project, launches a special call for proposals for the banana sector in the country's rural area. This call seeks to provide financial resources and training to the best entrepreneurial proposals, which may receive non-refundable seed capital of 4,000,000 to 7,000,000 colones, in addition to specialized mentoring in business development.
Categories
- Inclusion: Entrepreneurial individuals or companies in the rural sector that have a business idea or are starting operations.
- Transformative-Rural: Rural companies formed as a legal entity duly registered as MIPyMES before the MEIC or as PYMPA before the MAG with less than 96 months of operation.
Benefits
- Cycle of specialized training and mentoring.
- Support with seed capital of 4,000,000 colones to 7,000,000 colones (non-refundable).
- Visibility and network of contacts to strengthen entrepreneurship.
Who can participate?
- Costa Rican adults or foreigners with permanent residence in the country.
- Individuals or companies that reside or are based in any of the rural areas of Costa Rica.
- Individuals or companies that have not had conflicts in the past with ACTIVA-CATIE or with any other seed capital operating agency.
- Business ideas and ventures in the areas of musaceae (excluding abaca)
- Business ideas and ventures that consider the generation of environmental, social and economic benefits that promote rural development in Costa Rica.
- Inclusive projects with leading participation of women and young people.
Those who apply and meet the initial requirements will receive an invitation after August 18th to attend mandatory virtual training workshops on sustainable business models and competition details. The application deadline is August 18, 2024; the form is available at this link .
