Transcriptionist

About This Role

This remote position focuses on transcribing and annotating podcast recordings for the Freya Project, contributing to the training and evaluation of voice recognition models. It is ideal for individuals with strong listening skills, exceptional attention to detail, and prior transcription experience.

Responsibilities

• Transcribe long-form podcast recordings accurately, following project guidelines
• Identify different speakers and assign consistent speaker labels
• Segment speech with accurate timestamps
• Identify the perceived gender of speakers
• Review audio quality and flag issues such as unclear or distorted speech, strong accents, incorrect language, and synthetic or generated audio
• Verify and correct pre-annotated speech segments when required
• Ensure all annotations and transcripts meet quality standards

Requirements

• Strong listening skills and excellent attention to detail
• Previous experience with transcription or speech annotation
• Native or near-native fluency in English (Australia)
• Access to a computer and a stable internet connection

Important Details

• Availability: tasks are released weekly on a first-come, first-served basis; volume may vary depending on locale and batch distribution
