Description Transaction Monitoring Analyst

Position Overview

As a Financial Crimes Investigator, you will conduct an in-depth analysis of cases associated with fraud and Know Your Customer (KYC) policies and procedures. The candidate will develop and support complex fraud investigation activities to maintain trust in the platform.

Key responsibilities

  • Review dispositions from frontline agents of potential bad actors and verify the accuracy of previous research.
  • Conduct risk evaluations of escalated cases and close or escalate further to Compliance Officers depending on risk relevancy.
  • Utilize global legal and cybersecurity platforms to supplement user identification checks and additional debit/credit card fraud/red flags.
  • Clearly define narrative and decision rationale highlighting red flags identified during investigation.
  • Carry out investigative/intelligence research of individuals, entities, and/or events related to current or prospective customers through public records, open source intelligence (OSINT), vendor systems, or other research tools.
  • Thoroughly analyze investigative and intelligence information about customer identification, business operations, know your customer ("KYC") information, and transaction history.
  • Proactively recommend and implement updates to policies and procedures and draft new policies and procedures as necessary.
  • Identifies trends in recurring Fraud violations and inquiries, and work closely with teammates and cross-functional partners to enhance internal procedures and training materials.
  • Develop knowledge of criminal methods and AML typologies and use that knowledge to analyze transaction data to identify unusual activity.
  • Participate in ad hoc projects and enhanced reviews, including supporting inquiries from regulators and compliance-related matters.
  • Use data visualization tools to highlight risks to sensitive business practices and further develop cyber-enabled financial/criminal investigations.

Requirements

  • Fluency in English (B2)
  • Minimum 1 year of experience with financial crimes and compliance
  • Flexible schedule
  • Works well under pressure and within time/budget constraints.
  • Investigative skills and an analytical mindset, including proven problem-solving ability.

Preferred Qualifications Over 1.5 years of experience in Law Enforcement, Fraud, AML Compliance, or like discipline. Expertise surrounding anti-money laundering (AML), financial crimes, sanctions screening, and KYC

Proven track record of managing and executing short and long-term projects.
