Training Instructor

Duties
These positions are being recruited for under the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), which allows an agency head to reemploy CSRS and FERS annuitants on a limited basis with a waiver of salary offset (dual compensation waiver) under certain specified circumstances not to exceed 1 year and may be extended for an additional year.
The selectee will serve as a Training Instructor (Law Enforcement) in the Office of Training, James J. Rowley Training Center. Typical work assignments include:

• Developing basic and advanced instruction in various specialty areas (e.g. firearms, protective driving, physical fitness, investigations, protective intelligence, and special operations); and providing instruction on the safety and maintenance of various equipments.
• Providing instruction to students on a wide variety of advanced instructional techniques and skills; and developing and conducting course materials.
• Identifying the specific needs and requirements of students and modifying or adapting training methods and materials to assist the students in reaching their maximum level of proficiency.

Qualifications
(Firearms) You qualify for the GS-12 level if you possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level performing duties such as: developing and presenting lesson plans for basic and advanced firearms training methods; observing, monitoring and evaluating student behavior, response, and shooting progress; and developing course content and initiating changes in instructional methods.
OR
(Protective Driving) You qualify for the GS-12 level if you possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level performing duties such as: developing and delivering basic and advanced instruction in the area of protective driving techniques and skills; and operating heavy to medium weight vehicles in a wide range of traffic, road and weather conditions or emergency situations.
OR
(Physical Fitness) You qualify for the GS-12 level if you possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level performing duties such as: developing and presenting lesson plans for basic and advance dynamic functional fitness (strength and conditioning) methods; observing, monitoring and evaluating student behavior, response, and shooting progress; and developing course content and initiating changes in instructional methods.
OR
(Investigations) You qualify for the GS-12 level if you possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level performing duties such as: developing and delivering basic and advanced instruction in the area of Criminal Investigations and skills; relating to financial crimes, access devices, computer/telecommunications fraud, financial institution fraud, fraudulent identification, asset forfeiture and counterfeit currency, techniques, principles and practices to include planning, coordinating and conducting exceptionally difficult and sensitive investigative activities.
OR
(Protective Intelligence) You qualify for the GS-12 level if you possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level performing duties such as: developing and presenting lesson plans and course content for basic protective intelligence instruction; conducting basic protective intelligence instruction, threat assessments, and protective intelligence investigations; and engaging persons with mental illness in a clinical and/or law enforcement environment.
OR
(Special Operations) You qualify for the GS-12 level if you possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level performing duties such as: developing and presenting specialized and innovative special operations tactics, devices and procedures to direct and manage special operations training.
National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience) Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Time-in-Grade: Current Federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the Federal service. Qualifications Must Be Met: The qualification requirements listed above must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
