This role involves determining a property's title status by examining public records and various legal documents, making insurability decisions, and interpreting title insurance guidelines. Responsibilities

• Search and examine public records to determine a property’s status of title
• Review documents affecting title to property, such as mortgages, deeds, probate records, trust agreements
• Read and interpret real estate documents, legal proceedings, maps and surveys
• Communicate effectively with customers, lenders, peers, underwriting staff and vendors
• Make insurability decisions and translate title insurance guidelines

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Minimum of 2 years in the title insurance business
• Strong understanding of general title process, related documentation and their effect upon title
• Experience with County Government websites, Titlepoint, Datatrace, Title Vision, Deed Plotter and others
• Good research and investigation skills and understanding of legal terms
• Awareness of new legal developments and legislation that affect real property
• Excellent verbal and written skills and attention to detail
• Ability to prioritize according to departmental guidelines
• High level of organization
• Ability to consistently meet deadlines
• Ability to work with constantly changing priorities
• Strong follow through
• Ability to follow procedures and processes
• Basic computer skills and ability to learn and use various software applications including Outlook, Word, Acrobat
• Attention to detail combined with analytical and problem-solving skills
