About This Role
Conducting thorough research of public real property records regarding the status of title and encumbrances affecting property is the core of this role. The Title Examiner reviews documents affecting title to property and communicates effectively with team members and clients.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough research of public real property records regarding the status of title and encumbrances affecting property
- Review documents affecting title to property, such as mortgages, deeds, probate records, and trust agreements
- Read and interpret real estate documents, legal proceedings, maps, and surveys
- Assemble Title Abstracts/Reports of various types to be sold to clients
- Communicate effectively with team members and clients
Requirements
- Minimum of 3+ years Texas title abstracting/examination experience
- Strong understanding of title examination process and procedures, related documentation, and their effect upon title
- Residential examination experience with Acreage (metes and bounds) experience preferred
- Proficient in the use of Title Data (TIMS) title plant software and Deed Plotter software
- Experience with County Government websites
- Good research/investigation skills and understanding of legal terms
- Excellent verbal/written skills and attention to detail
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to prioritize according to departmental guidelines and maintain a high level of organization
- Ability to consistently meet deadlines and work with constantly changing priorities
- Basic computer skills and ability to learn and use various software applications such as Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Acrobat
- Attention to detail combined with analytical and problem-solving skills
- Willingness to learn and grow new skills
